About Us

Channeling the ocean’s resources to combat climate change

About Us

Removing billions of tons of carbon dioxide from our atmosphere is not going to be easy. But it’s a necessary, vital project. Our work will be essential for forging a sustainable future for ourselves and for future generations to come.

The answers for scalable atmospheric carbon removal are in the ocean. To truly unlock that potential we’re going to need to bring people together. We need scientists and oceanographers who best understand these dizzyingly complex systems. We need commercial operators and entrepreneurs who can envision a better future and help us move forward with the urgency this crisis requires. We need partners in finance who can see this colossal, essential opportunity and have the vision and resources to make it possible. We need environmentalists who share our values, are dependable guardians of ocean health, and will be our partners in achieving a livable future.

This won’t be easy. We’re all venturing forth into some uncharted waters. But it’s necessary. It’s exciting. We’re proud to be a part of it.

experience launching ventures and developing new business to his work at Oceanid MRV.

Heather McNair

Oceanographer

Heather McNair

Oceanographer

Heather received her PhD, Marine Biology and Biological Oceanography from UC Santa Barbara. She has spent the last 5 years as postdoctoral researcher at the University of Rhode Island studying relationships between microzooplankton grazing rates and the export of carbon in the biological carbon pump.

Manish Devana

Oceanographer

Manish Devana

Oceanographer

Manish is a PhD Candidate in Physical Oceanography and Meteorology at the University of Miami. He has spent the last 5 years deploying and monitoring ocean sensors in the Icelandic Basin and using large scale ocean observation systems to understand the dynamics of ocean circulation and its links with the climate system.

Scientific Advisors

Veronica Tamsit

Oceanographer, Scientific Advisor

Veronica Tamsit

Oceanographer, Scientific Advisor

Veronica is a research scientist at the University of South Florida with a PhD from Scripps Institution of Oceanography on the three-dimensional overturning circulation in the Southern Ocean.
Veronica’s research interests lie in understanding the ocean circulation and its impact on climate using a combination of modeling and observations. She has extensive experience with seagoing oceanography, design of oceanographic sampling plans, and analysis of oceanographic datasets, including flux mooring, ship, and autonomous vehicle measurements.

Ian Walsh

Oceanographer, Scientific Advisor

Ian Walsh

Oceanographer, Scientific Advisor

Dr. Ian Walsh is a consulting oceanographer working to develop and increase use of ocean data to drive observations and predictions of ocean dynamics, particularly of carbon fluxes.
He was previously Director of Science at Sea-Bird Scientific and a research scientist at Oregon State and Texas A&M Universities. He earned a Doctorate in Oceanography at Texas A&M University.
