We are committed to formulating and utilizing high-quality measurement and verification standards. We insure a robust and faithful implementation of those standards. We verify that the claims of sequestration being made by our customers are valid and that their statements around volume and durability are accurate and well supported with verification data.
We verify our customers' claims and certify that they are correct. We share both the verification methodology and supporting data so that they can be confirmed by purchasers and any interested parties.
We also recognize the importance of additional, independent, verification and certification bodies. For those organizations to exist and function, we need well-developed, open transparent MRV standards. We need integrated systems, data registries, and data standards that transfer and present data in a secure, immutable, and verifiable form. We’re actively working to build those systems.
Building trust and verification systems is a prerequisite for the CDR industry to flourish. Proof of sequestration is the product. We are a certification body in that we verify our customers' claims and certify that they are correct. We also endorse the creation of additional verification and certification bodies working in mCDR.
Ultimately, we see ourselves as carbon accountants. We recognize the need for auditing organizations.
We offer consulting and advisory services to assist our customers. We are building robust software systems to assist in data collection, verification, and integration with carbon registries and carbon markets.
Both of these activities are central to what we do. But we are not a traditional software or consulting services company. We have a different business model. We don’t charge for our consulting and methodology development services. We don’t have standard licensing fees for our software.
We forge ongoing, integrated, long-term relationships with our customers. In exchange for all that we offer, we retain a percentage of the carbon credits that they are able to certify and sell. As our partners grow, and flourish, we will share in their success.
Marine CDR pathways have a number of advantages over terrestrial pathways. Additionality, durability, and potential for scale are the critical components for evaluating CDR options. These are the chief virtues of marine CDR options.
Different species of microalgae and macroalgae, with sufficient nutrients, have phenomenal growth rates. They can be rapidly cultivated at scale and the carbon-rich biomass can be safely sequestered for centuries and millennia in the depths of the ocean.
The concentration of carbon in seawater is substantially higher than the carbon concentration in the air. Direct ocean carbon capture companies can take advantage of this to create carbon capture and sequestration facilities that are more efficient than the available options in direct air capture.
Chemical and biological systems in the oceans are natural carbon sinks. We can take advantage of this. By altering the chemistry of ocean waters we can reduce ocean acidification and increase the ocean’s natural capacity to capture and mineralize carbon.
We take a big-picture view of the problem and consider the requirements for the most promising pathways for atmospheric carbon removal on a scale of billions of tons each year.
The answers are in the oceans.
Yes. Coastal Carbon Solutions, LLC was formed in 2022. Going into 2023, we are incorporating as a public benefit corporation - Oceanid MRV Inc.
As Oceanid MRV, the same team will be offering the same solutions, services, and expertise. We are committed to our mission of promoting marine CDR and helping our partners launch, grow, and produce the durable, quality, certified, verified carbon offset products that the world needs.
